Uganda: My first ever Mission trip!!!

Donation protected
Hi Friends and Family,
Last year, I made the decision in my heart that in 2014 I wanted to go on a mission trip.  I had no idea where or when.  And it was a scary thought to me.  Being so far from my family, in an unfamiliar place.  But after much prayer and encouragement from many, I decided to pursue this passion, scared or not.  Well, God works in amazing ways, and within months of my decision, the word Uganda began to show up almost daily in one form or another.  When this opportunity came up, I knew it was meant to be.  I love how one of my favorite bloggers, Glennon Melton put it:  "Everybody is the same. No one has it all figured out and No one ever will. We just gotta show up for our dreams and each other before we're ready. We can be scared and still show up. We can be completely UNHEALED and still show up. We must just show up in all our beautiful, messy glory. Because all the good and all the beautiful in the world is created by people who show up before they're ready"

So, on April 24-May 5th I am taking a leap of faith, and my messy, scared self will SHOW UP!!!! I am headed to Africa with Epik Missions.  The outreach of Epik Missions it to serve other the way we would want to be served specifically in undeserved or poverty stricken parts of the world through ministry, and outreach, and chiropractic care.

While in Uganda, we partner with Sixty Feet (www.sixtyfeet.org) and reach out to imprisoned children between the ages of TWO and TWELVE (yes, you read that right!) These children do not belong in prison and most have either been sold into prison by their family so they don't have to be fed or cared for, or they have been charged for "crimes" with no due process.  HIV is rampant in the prisons, often from the prison guards and health care is next to none. This breaks my heart and I just can't wait to get there and love on those sweet, sweet souls!!!

Epik Missions also donates funds to help feed the children beyond the daily ration of rice and milk they receive. Our work is intentional. Our purpose strong. And our impact is immediate.
The theme for this year is taken from 1 Thessalonians 1 Our work produced by faith. Our labor prompted by love. Our endurance inspired by hope.

I KNOW this will be a life changing experience.  One that will likely change me to the core.  I am so excited for this and the opportunity to grow and give to others.

Would you please, please consider partnering with me, both prayerfully and financially, so that we can go and share Christ's love while teaching these sweet children? The cost of the trip is around $4k ($2,000 in airfare, the remaining majority is in my med costs, and mostly food and donations to the children) Any amount helps, even $10-$20. If you can't give a donation, please commit to pray for me, this team, and the people of Uganda. I am so grateful and thankful for you all and this experience!

xoxo,
Amber
