Help Skyler fight Cystic Fibrosis

Donation protected
As many of you know, the Enns family has had more than their share of struggles concerning their daughter Skyler's Cystic Fibrosis. It would be so great if we could all band together as their friends and family and give them the support they really need right now. They seem to be reaching a crisis point with the latest developments concerning Skyler's (age 12) health.

Rachel, Skyler's mom, recently posted on Facebook "I would appreciate your prayers for Skyler. She is not sick, however with her cf she is not gaining weight which means that her body(lungs) cannot develop properly. She needs to gain 5 lbs by March 18th or feeding tubes will be put in. 5 pounds seems like nothing, however, she has not gained that much in the last 2 years. Anybody that knows her knows she has a hearty appetite, but to eat as much as she needs to is tough. She also forgets to take her enzymes when mama isn't around, so we have her doing a food diary and pill diary to keep her accountable. Sorry for ranting, but it seems like a pretty big mountain! But a direct quote from my sister in law Jacquie "5 pounds is nothing for God" so we will take faith!"

A few months ago they found a virus in her lungs that required a very expensive medication to treat. They have still not been able to get rid of this dangerous virus so the cost of the medication is ongoing. (This is in addition to the expensive enzymes that Skyler needs to take with everything she eats.) They have been doing what they can to save money for a much needed trip to a warmer climate (it really helps Skyler's lungs) but they were sideswiped by the cost of dealing with this virus. So this latest news from the doctor to gain 5 pounds or get a feeding tube is really just adding insult to injury. To make matters even worse, they also found out that a hole in Skyler's heart (not related to CF) has not been healing properly due to lack of nutrition.

A great way that could really give Skyler a boost is to send the family to Mexico to an all inclusive resort. Rachel and Anthony would be able to focus their attention on Skyler and encourage her to eat as much food as she can and ensure that she takes her enzymes that help the nutrients stay in her body. It may just be what it takes to avoid a feeding tube along with the myriad of complications that could come with it. Let's do what we can to bless the Enns family. I can't think of a more deserving family.

The fundraising goal is set at $12,000 for a trip to Mexico and to help out with ongoing medical bills.
