Jeff's Medical Fund

On Sunday October 29th, my lifelong friend Jeff Pavek, went out bow hunting near his rural home in Palo, Iowa. He had no idea that his life, and the life of his family and friends, would be drastically changed moving forward.  Jeff, an avid outdoorsman, loved hunting and had climbed up into his deer stand a staggering 25ft up in the tree. That is one of the last things he remembers about his hunting trip. Jeff sent a text to his loving girlfriend, Lori at around 5pm, his phone went silent and as darkness decended on that cold, rainy night, Jeff did not return home. Lori and Ron, Jeff's long time friend, went searching for him and made a horrific discovery. Jeff had fallen out of the tree stand and had rolled a considerable distance were he lay face down. They were fortunate to catch a glimpse of his hand barely moving despite the camo clothing he had on. An ambulance was summoned and it took several people and a considerable amount of time to get him out of the timber and on the road to Iowa City. Jeff sustained massive injuries in that fall that included a broken neck, broken back, a skull fracture, a collapsed lung, a sternum fracture and an unbelievable amount of pain. Jeff had his left lung filled with blood from the trauma and had a very low blood pressure upon arrival to the University of Iowa Hospital.  The worst injury was a crushed vertebrae, T3, which would need surgery to stabalize. Quite frankly, it is nothing short of a miracle that he survived, and unbelieveably was not paralyzed. He was finally stable enough on November 2nd to have surgery to place a rod in his back to stabalize his multiple breaks. Jeff is in constant pain as his sternum shifts with every breath. He had a chest tube placed to drain the blood from his chest. All of this, and he is not complaining. He is apologizing to the nurses when they move him and he grimaces or makes a noise. He is so polite and thanks every nurse, doctor or visitor that sees him. He knows he shouldnt be alive and is truely grateful for every new day. I am inspired by him and want to help. Please dont stop reading! All of us know someone in our lives that would "give the shirt off their back." Someone who would do anything to help out others. That person is Jeff Pavek.  I know he is thinking about all of his financial obligations and rough road ahead for Lori and his family as he he continues to heal and rehab. I am asking each person that reads this to help this loving family make ends meet during this difficult time. Give Jeff, Lori and his family a "shirt off your back" to help them... It doesnt matter if  thats a $10 t-shirt,  a $ 100 designer brand or somewhere in between.  Anything helps. I want Jeff to know that for all the good he has done for others that we will have his back. His road to recovery will be painful, long, and will be met with many difficult challenges. Please help me in helping with his massive bills and allow him to focus on getting better.
God Bless You and Thanks in advance.
