MDA Walk for Rebekah! Richmond, VA

Donation protected
This is my Mom, Rebekah Brown. She is a gifted artist, talented musician, enthusiastic crafter, community activist, world's best pancake-maker, and the best Mimi grandkids could ever ask for. She also happens to have Muscular Dystrophy (MD), specifically a form of the disease called Charcot-Marie-Tooth (CMT).

CMT is a degenerative neurological disorder that causes damage to the nerves which carry signals from the brain and spinal cord to the muscles, and relay sensations, such as pain and touch, to the brain and spinal cord from the rest of the body. Over time its affects on the body progressively worsen, making some movements and tasks more difficult - even simple ones like opening jars, buckling jewlery clasps, or handwriting - and also impacts other, more complex tasks such as walking and standing.

Mom uses mobility aids to make getting around more manageable like leg braces and, most recently, a motorized Segway with an attached seat - by far the coolest thing she's been able to use and way more fun than a scooter! Beep! Beep!

My family will be participating in the 2014 Richmond MDA Walk on March 30, 2014.

Mom's goal is to raise $1500 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a superb organization that provides much needed assistance and education for MD patients and their loved ones, and continually performs research to help the medical community better understand this disease and (one day!) find a cure.

Help Rebekah reach her goal of donating $1500 to MDA!
Our family appreciates your support!
