The Across The River Film festival

The Hudson Valley Across The River Film Festival is meant to encourage budding young high school student filmmakers to follow their dream. The festival is streamlined with 4 categories. This a competitive festival with a first, second and third place in each category. There will be a panel of 5 qualified judges choosing the winners. In addition to a cash prize the winners will receive hand made plaques made by students in the Career and Technical Education programs of Newburgh Free Academy.
The four categories in this festival are:
Ultra Short: These videos will be a maximum of 10 seconds. We are hoping to capitalize on the popularity of video sharing services such as Vine and Instagram.
Short Narrative: These videos will be a maximum of 15 minutes. The participants will write their own films. These films can cover any number of genres, such as silent film, action, comedy, horror, etc.
Short Documentary: These will also be a maximum of 15 minutes. Any topics of interest to the film maker are welcome.
Digital Animation: These pieces will be a maximum of 5 minutes. In this category entrants will let their creativity run wild and their only limit will be their imagination.
The entry screening panel will be composed of teachers and students. They will view ever entry and decide which ones will become official selections.
We will have a panel of 5 judges to decide the winners of each category.
The festival itself will be held across the campuses of Newburgh Free Academy. There will be 4 different venues. There will also be a concentrated showing of all the videos on Academy Field (weather permitting). There will be breaks between each category where viewers can venture off into the field to partake in fun activities and eat food provided by the Culinary Program at Newburgh Free Academy.
Our fundraising goal is $4000. Your contributions will all go toward the awards for the filmmakers and the planning and execution of the film festival. This would help make The Hudson Valley Across The River Film Festival a wonderful and extraordinary event for the entrants as well as the audience attending.
