Alpine Summer Camp for youth

Hello friends and family,
For those of you who don't know me, my name is David Medley.
I have been serving youth as a volunteer in my communities for over 40 years. I started at the YMCA as a teenager doing summer camps, I continued at the Boys and girls clubs, parks and recreation, coaching, and you name it, I may have done it. My most recent and present involvement is with a mentoring program called the Rites of Passage. For over 16 years this faith based organization has help transform young boys into young men. One of the highlights and most successful elements of our annual program is to take the students on a week long retreat at Alpine Christian Summer Camp, located in the beautiful San Bernadino mountains (Blue Jay). For the first five years we have been able to offset the cost through fundraising, sponsorships and scholarships offered by Alpine. Last year our fund raising efforts weren't very successful, sponsorship was down and the majority of our campers did not qaulify for scholarships. Our total cost for the camp was over $6,000.00, including transportation (Chartered bus). Over half of that cost was covered by the ministry, the rest by parents and friends.
The Rites of Passage Ministry has a goal this year to offer this Mountain top, life changing oppurtunity to over 30 youth at no cost to them. The goal is to raise $12,000.00 buy July 1, 2014. The break down follows; 30 campers @ $333.00 = $9,990.00, Chartered bus roundtrip cost = $1,620.00, Hotel accomodations for Allison, Elizabeth and the Nana (Daniel will be a camper this year) = $400.00.
The Rites of Passage is a ministry of Faithful Central Bible Church located in Inglewood, Ca. We are also partnering with the youth ministries of Abundant life in Pasadena and HRock Church of Pasadena. All of your donations are tax deductable.
