Faith That Broke Through Concrete

FAITH THAT BROKE THROUGH CONCRETE            “My story is who I am at the core. It's the ups and downs of life. The fight for health and healing that God has promised.
The concrete is a metaphor for the things of life that happen to us that test our faith in God.
Faith is represented by roots that are so deeply rooted in faith that no matter what life tries to put on your faith it ALWAYS comes shinning/breaking through.”

THE LIGHT

The Light of Love – Melanie Celeste Thomas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, auntie, cousin, and friend - received ultimate healing on August 25, 2016 and peacefully rests in the arms of God.  She loved passionately, lived selflessly, and is now leaping in a body unbound by sickness and pain.  While we rejoice in her salvation, and thank God for giving us the gift of Melanie’s life, we deeply miss the light that she beautifully radiated in all of our lives. Oh God, words cannot describe how we miss her.

Melanie valiantly fought this battle. Even in the midst of what many considered to be hopeless, she never grew bitter. As her body failed her spirit, her spirit grew even stronger. She was a fighter for all the right causes.

In her final week, Melanie confidently expressed that she understood the difference between giving up and surrendering ~ Melanie surrendered to the will of our Sovereign Father and the Angels surely sung a song of celebration at her arrival!

The Light of Education - Melanie received her undergrad degree from her cherished UCLA (a true Bruins girl), and was months away from obtaining a master's degree and teaching credential from LMU.  She delighted in passing on her passion for education with classes at Windsor Hills Math Science Aerospace Magnet and Loyola Village Elementary School, where she had the privilege of student teaching.

The Light of Encouragement - Melanie co-founded the former spoken word troupe “Poets of Faith” at Faithful Central Bible Church. Besides sharing her own beautifully gifted words, she also encouraged and facilitated others in yielding their pens to Christ.

Most recently she founded the non-profit organization TransplantID Life, and was a fierce advocate for transplantation and dialysis patients.

The Light of Entrepreneurship - Inspiring many by creating Melodic Candles, a delightfully delicate fusion of fragrance.  Melanie's candles provided a touch of her warmth and light to illuminate our hearts and homes. She designed and packaged her soy based candles in excellence.

The Light of Family & Friends - Melanie married the love of her life, Bradley Thomas, on June 29, 2008. She was a mindful mother to Phillip Williams, a grateful grandmother to Khloe Williams and Aliana Collins, the devoted daughter of Melvin Lewis and Vivian Austin-Lewis,  cherished daughter-in-love to Mary and Shellie Thomas (deceased) and mother-in-love to Eleanor Williams.

A selfless sister to siblings Monica Austin, La Roya (Austin) Jordan, Vivienne (Austin) Leigh, Carmel Austin, Le Roy Bishop Austin, Vann R. Austin (deceased), and brothers-and-sisters-in-love Ralph Jordan, Marvin and Diane Jackson, Michelle Austin.

An amazing auntie to a loving crew of nieces and nephews, and a faithful friend to so many.

We would like to thank you for the outpouring of support - you've blessed us with your resources, encouraged us with your calls and visits, and uplifted us with your prayers.

Please continue to pray.  This site will remain active if you would like to sow financially toward her home going.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 7, 2016, 11:00 a.m., 400 W. Florence Ave., Inglewood, CA 90301 at Faithful Central Bible Church (Living Room). Viewing will be held on September 6, 2016 at Angeles Funeral Home, 3875 S. Crenshaw Blvd, Los Angeles CA 90008.

God bless you for walking this journey with us!

Melanie - Wife, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Friend, Graduate,  Grandmother,  Advocate and Overcomer.

I saw this tree as I set at a stoplight yesterday.
This was a big tree and all its' branches and leaves had been cut off, but I could see the green baby leaves refusing to give up on their purpose. I hope and pray that at my core I am the same. I pray that despite how many times the trials and storms of life cut off my strong, flourishing purpose driven branches and leaves
I refuse to give up!
