This is our son Westley and he was diagnosed, Feburary 24th, 2014 at Doernbecher's children hospital in Portland, Oregon with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He is a light in the life of many around him and we are determined to get him the best care possible. Our entire lives are on hold as we begin this journey and we are asking for help from the community to assist us in this venture.
About 2 weeks ago we took him to Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, Oregon with a high fever. After leaving the emergency room with a diagnosis of influenza, the hospital soon called back saying that he had strept thoat and that he needed to be on antibiotics. About a week later he developed a rash on his leg. After another ER visit late at night he was put on a different antibiotic and sent home. A few days later we ended up in the hospital again and this time they admitted him to figure out what this was on his leg. After staying in the hospital over night they came and told us that his white and red blood count was extremely low. He was transferred to Doernbechers late thursday afternoon. After countless blood draws, a spinal tap to remove bone marrow, endless IV's and never ending tears he has been diagnosed with ALL, Pre B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Our main focus as we begin this long road is to secure the basics of what we will need over these next few years to fix our precious baby. However now that we will be required to drive so far with such precious cargo we are attempting to raise funds to soften the blow that this journey will have.
