Help Get Olivia to Malawi!

Family and friends, I am excited to share with you that this summer I have been blessed with the opportunity of traveling to Malawi or "The Warm Heart of Africa" on a short three week mission trip as part of a team with my church, Epiphany Fellowship. Malawi is located in Southeast Africa bordered by the beautiful countries of Tanzania, Zambia, and Mozambique. I believe this will be nothing short of a life changing opportunity and I would love for you to be a part of my journey!

My name is Olivia Steadman- Oladipo and I'm a 4th year transfer student at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I am currently working on graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology before pursuing my PhD. I have heavily immersed myself in student activities during my undergraduate career. Before coming to Temple, I traveled down to the Gulf Coast where Hurricane Katrina devastated the community and built homes for families who had lost it all. The fulfillment I gained down South paved the way for what I will continue doing for the rest of my life, volunteering and making a difference in the community.

Upon coming to Temple, I made myself busy with student organizations. I am the Community Service co-chair on the executive board of the Organization of African Students, I am a member of the Student Organization for Caribbean Awareness' dance team, and I am a co-chair and mentor for the DREAM Program which specializes in the betterment of children in the city. From an early age, I knew in my heart that all I wanted to do was help people and so far I've structured my life around doing so.

On this trip we will be working with a local church outside the capital city of Lilongwe and several other ministries in and around the city. We will be hosting a Summer Bible Institute, doing evangelism in local villages and working with many children and families. My church, Epiphany Fellowship, has established excellent long-term strategic partnerships with ministries and churches in Malawi and this trip is a part of our plan to partner with those ministries in seeing Christ greatly glorified in Malawi.

Gandhi said "be the change you wish to see in the world." When I first read that quote, I didn't understand how I could make a difference in this world. I didn't believe myself to be capable, I used to think: "I'm just one in seven billion, there's no way I could change anything." But, I was wrong. As mentioned before, I've volunteered in the Gulf Coast building houses from slabs with Habitat for Humanity. I am now a mentor to inner-city kids surrounding my campus and even though these things seem small, I have and will continue to personally impact the lives of those I encounter. With your help and God's blessing, I can go to Malawi and make a difference there as well. Please give as you have decided in your heart, anything helps and all is appreciated. It's amazing how a little can go such a long way!

Eternally grateful for your donations and sacrifice, thank you so much!

I have shown you all things, how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive | Acts 20:35
