My name is Luis L. I'm a 12 year old boy, when I was 3 I was diagnosed with autism and developmental delay. When I turned 7 I was diagnosed with epilepsy and have been taking medication for it ever since.
Last year I had a big seizure and my parents took me to the neurologist. They ran tests, and tests, and more tests. my seizures have only worsened, to the point that I've been on home hospital since January. I just want to go to school and have friends, be able to ride a bike or just be able to take a walk by the beach I want to enjoy life and be happy! not live scared waiting for a seizure..

Hello, we are Luis' parents, our son was diagnosed recently with Lennox Gastaut syndrome, a rare type of epilepsy, the hardest one to control. Only 1 to 4% of kids have this syndrome. He gets seizures CONSTANTLY!! we have tried everything! ALL KINDS OF MEDICATIONS. NOTHING HAS WORKED!! He is currently on 3 anti-seizure medications that for the most part has him bedridden.
We have always dealt with our kid's illnesses and diagnosis internally, as a Family (we have another son with epilepsy and an older sibling with Asperger's syndrome). We as parents have tried to be the strong parents that we can be for our son, and *we will fight till we can't no more!! He is the most amazing little man we know and we draw our faith and strength from him. We as a whole family are heartbroken and want him to get better now,
The Neurologist has recommended a VNS implant that she hopes will diminish his seizure activity almost completely. WE have faith on this Device will Help and hope it will help him live a "some what" normal life.Unfortunately our insurance that does not cover treatments, test or medications in full. We need your help to raise money for the placement of the VNS DEVICE and for all medical bills we have now and future. His treatment is expected to be lifelong. We hope to use this money for his care and medical bills. Please help, if you have it in your heart to help him, every little bit helps A LOT! AND WE CAN NOT SAY THANK YOU ENOUGH!!! WE WILL OWE OUR LIVES TO YOU ALL.
