Lauri's Fight

Donation protected
Our sister Lauri Overby is fighting the battle of her life. Two months ago she was dancing and celebrating at her oldest son’s wedding; two days later she was at her Doctor’s with severe back pain. This visit subsequently sent her to Xray where it was then discovered that her left lung was full of fluid. After having a drain procedure done, a second x-ray showed a large mass in the lung. It has now been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. This cancer is incurable and inoperable.

Radiation has been scheduled to start immediately to relieve some of the punishing pain and hopefully reduce the fluid from this cancer. She is on oxygen permanently in order to breathe.

Lauri is a local business woman, having opened a life long dream of running her own hair salon: Satin Scissors. She currently has one employee maintaining her business during this battle.

Her husband Branson is an electrician with a local company but has to constantly take time off to drive Lauri to her many appointments and treatments.  They do not have any form of medical coverage except for OHIP. The mounting drug costs are phenomenal, as is the travel, parking, along with the usual costs of the household regarding mortgage and utilities. With Branson working fewer hours it means his pay has decreased substantially and with these treatment costs, they need any financial help they can get.

After a hospital stay of 11 days, Lauri is resting at home with her oxygen, on a strict pain management regime and starts radiation treatment out of town in Oshawa.

Lauri has always given from her heart. Lauri is the first person to help someone in need, lend a shoulder, and she has often given to help out those less fortunate.

We ask that if you could donate to help our sister in this battle and limit the burden of the additional costs of travel for treatment, and drugs, we would be forever grateful. This would enable our sister to have some peace of mind, allowing her to continue to live at home without the stress of ever mounting costs and support her during this treatment.
