Teddy and Bailey's Medical

Bailey: (scroll down for Teddy's)
On June 30, it will be 8 years since I adopted Bailey from the NSAL. He was the one that started me on the journey to fostering, rescuing and adopting from shelters. He opened my eyes to puppymills and the horrific conditions they’re forced to live. It took several years to gain his trust. For such a tiny little 8lb guy (back then), he was fiery but he taught me the meaning of unconditional love. The first few years, he slowly learned to trust me and once I gained his full trust, I became his person, but from day 1 he had my heart and I promised him on the train ride back to NYC that day, that no matter what he did, I would always love him and fight for him.

When I adopted him, I was told he had a low grade heart murmur that seemed to have disappeared during his 6 month echocardiogram, but we’ve continued to monitor his heart over the years.

About 5 years ago, Bailey started collapsing out of no where. It didn’t happen often. Once every 7-9 months. The vet we were seeing at the time diagnosed it as a seizure and said there wasn’t anything they could do medicine wise unless he was having them frequently - few times a month. The past year, they became more frequent, once a month, and he developed a cough last fall. An echo showed his heart murmur had returned, though still a very low grade, but he also had a tumor growth in-between his lungs “Mediastinal tumors”. There’s a strong theory that the tumor has been very slow growing over the years but too small to detect on ultrasounds until now and that is what is causing Bailey to “faint” not seizures and also the cause of Bailey’s coughing (airwaves being blocked).  First step is Bailey will need a biopsy to determine if the tumor is cancer or benign so we can roadmap his treatment plan.

Many of you know that 3 months ago, I lost Avery to liver cancer and just a few weeks ago, Jasper successfully had good margins of his Squamous cell carcinoma removed. It’s been a pretty rough year, but Bailey needs a biopsy, CT Scan and potentially surgery. Financially, I’m still paying off Jasper’s surgery and followup care with an oncologist.

Bailey’s coughing is getting worse, he’s losing sleep because he’s constantly waking up to cough and catch his breath. I will never be able to repay Bailey for all the love, comfort and kisses he has given me over the years, but I owe it to him to give him a fighting chance.

TEDDY:
One month ago, Teddy out of the blue had his first Grand mal seizure. Then 2 nights ago he had another one, followed by 2 more in the span of less than 48 hours. Our regular vet advised for Teddy to have an MRI done by a neurologist to determine what is causing his seizure and how best to help him. We were able to get an appt for 6/21 at noon with their neurologist to have an MRI done.

I’m trying to raise the funds so both Teddy and Bailey can get the medical procedure they desperately need.  I know with the pandemic, times are tough, but even if it’s just a dollar and a prayer-no donation is too small. I also have paypal [email redacted] and venmo too. Thank You from Teddy, Bailey and their very grateful mom.
