Help feed Gili Island Horses in COVID-19

We are a small charity based on Gili Trawangan Island located between Lombok and Bali, Indonesia.  Normally our focus is on providing supplies and veterinary care for the working horses and ponies of the three northern Gili Islands....now we find our focus is simply keeping the horses and ponies alive for when the world begins to return to normal.
Who would have thought a tiny little charity on far away islands in Indonesia would have to survive yet another apocalypse?  With everyone's generous help we fed hundreds of horses and ponies after the August 2018 Lombok earthquakes. 


Now we find ourselves in a similar situation with COVID-19.  By now EVERYONE knows about this virus which has literally shut down the world.  Sadly this means the vast majority of locals on our tiny islands are now unemployed since the main source of income is tourism.  We have encouraged and assisted the locals in moving as many horses as possible to the neighboring island of Lombok.  There the horses can graze and have much easier access to fresh water.  But some horses and owners cannot leave....and since they have little no income we are trying to help at least provide feed to them over the next months while the world and governments figure out how to deal with COVID-19. 
We are purchasing and distributing rice bran to the horses and ponies left on the three islands.  We have already managed to get a supply for the next few weeks but are trying to plan ahead.  Ramadan is also coming and more severe travel restrictions are possible so we feel it is better to get extra stock now to help provide for the next few months.


Any donations provided go directly towards the purchase of feed for the horses and ponies and we will update this Go fund Me as often as possible with our continuing efforts.
