Wheelchair Van for Travis

On a warm summer day in 1996, a beautiful baby boy was born.  His parents named him Travis James Thompson. Unlike many other babies, Travis did not get to spend the first day of life in his parent's arms.  He spent his first day enduring an 8 hour lifesaving operation.  You see, Travis was born with Spina Bifida.  Even though Travis had a paralyzing medical condition, the love and support from his family always made him a very happy boy.  During his young childhood his grandparents and his extended family didn't think twice about pitching in to care for Travis so that his parents could work.

Travis is a very social young man.  He loves to spend time with friends, going camping, scouting for deer, take vacations to visit out of town family, and pretty much anything to get away from home for a bit. As the years pass, Travis has developed several other medical conditions such as osteoporosis, high blood pressure, and has been deemed intellectually challenged. With age comes size and picking Travis up and putting him in a vehicle, then packing up his wheel chair is a challenge for all that spend time with him during his activities.    Although he manually maneuvers his wheelchair and receives occupational therapy, he's still growing and getting bigger.  Due to Travis's medical complications, we all know that he will never be able to drive a car.  These days, getting around have become a struggle for him.  Travis's recently turned 16.  What do most 16 year old boys want?  A car!!!   Travis's parents cannot afford a handicap accessible vehicle without assistance.

Please help Travis live as normal as a life as he can.  Please help us raise enough money to purchase a handicap accessible van for Travis!!  Our goal is to have this vehicle available to his parents, grandparents, and extended family that would be caring for Travis!
