22nd Annual Ivy League East Coast Tour

My name is Abigail Saenz and I am currently a junior at El Diamante High School in Visalia, California. I was recently accepted to participate in the 22nd annual Ivy League Leadership Project, a non-profit program based in Parlier, California. This year long leadership program has and will continue to allow me to meet executives throughout the state of California. In addition to this, I will participate in The Ivy League East Coast Tour scheduled for April 11-19, 2014. On this trip, we will be visiting numerous colleges and universities including: Harvard, Yale, Brown, Princeton, MIT, Wellesly, Boston University, and Colombia. The total cost of this trip is $2,500, not including food expenses. As a result of my acceptance in to the Ivy League Project, I am writing to ask you for your financial sponsorship.     After completing my high school career, I plan to study/major in anatomy and biology. Though I'm not entirely sure where I'd like to attend college just yet, I plan on applying to Brown, Stanford, Biola, Northridge, UCLA, UCSD, UCSF, and Fresno State.     As I prepare to enter college and possibly medical school, I am trying to do everything possible to make my journey there definite. I have a GPA of 3.83 and I earned excellent grades in STAR and PSAT testing. I also plan on earning an outstanding score on my upcoming SAT's, assuring my academic success. In addition to these things, I have recently been invited to attend a summer program for young students seeking a career in the medical field.     I have no doubt that I will meet my goals in life with strong determination, hard work, and commitment. Something that I find in myself is my strong passion to learn and succeed in life. I am currently involved in many organizations within my school and community. I am a member of the California Scholarship Federation (CSF), and I'm heavily involved in music programs in both school and at church. I play piano, bass, and sing outside of school and have taken piano, bass, and vocal lessons throughout the years, starting at the age of 9. After having earned an exceptional grade in biology my sophomore year, I signed up to become an Academic Tutor for the subject at my school. I have also started volunteering within the children's ministry at the Visalia First Assembly of God church and seek to start volunteering at my local SPCA.     You may still be asking yourself as to why you should invest in me. I believe that you should do so because I am planning to devote my time and energy into becoming successful in life and being someone who other young Latinas can look up to. It's not about the money I will make in the future, but about the people I will inspire along the way. My primary goal is to utilize my resources and networks to get to where I need to be.     As I stated earlier, the total cost of the trip is $2,500. The Ivy League East Coast tour will allow me to meet Ivy League admission officers and college students. In addition to this, I will be given the opportunity to attend classes and interact with college students in their respective universities. I would like to humbly and respectfully ask for your assistance in helping me cover the financial expenses needed to take this trip.
