Hello, my name is Laura Cornwell. After five years of hard work and  persistent effort, it is finally time for me to complete my goal of Gender Reassignment Surgery. On June 2nd, 2014, I am scheduled to be operated on in Thailand. Since the age of twelve, I have dreamed about this. I am now fifty five years old.

My partner and I have come within $3,000.00 USD of having the funds I will need for travel to and from Thailand, and surgical, medical and hotel expenses for the thirty day event. So close, yet we are unable to reach this final monetary goal. A woman I attend Church with, along with her husband, have offered to help raise this money with a fund raising party on March 29th. We are all concerned that many may be unable to attend, yet would perhaps be able to help by having an on-line  site to send a donation to.

Also, many people around the world are becoming aware of the needs of those dealing with transgender issues. Though The American Medical Association and many other medical groups have concluded that it is in the best interest of many of us to complete Gender Reassignment Surgical procedures, the Health and Medical Insurance industry in the USA continues to make it difficult for us to receive compensation for our procedures. England, Canada and many other governments have embraced this need, yet the USA is experiencing a crisis over health care, making it difficult for many trans people here to proceed with our transitions.

Please, find it in your heart to assist me. Any money raised over my needs will be donated to the Unitarian Church of Frederick, earmarked to assist any other trans people who approach the church for transitional assistance into the future, kept in an interest bearing account. All monies raised will be cared for by John and Meg Menke, the couple who have offered to hold my fund raiser.
