Johnny’s Legacy

A few weeks ago dad went into the ER with a continuous high heart rate and some mild symptoms of what we though might be gallstones. After many tests and scans it has been determined that he has progressive Hepatocellular carcinoma (liver cancer) that has spread to his lymph nodes and both lungs. The tumor in his liver is 9x10cm and is inoperable, along with the non-tumor part of his liver having severe cirrhosis, which means it’s not functioning properly.

All this being said, this has been a shock and a fairly rapid progression of symptoms and financial issues. Cancer isn’t cheap and even with his insurance, co-pays alone for his needed medication are very steep. It’s hard for dad to ask for help but this isn’t a fight to be fought alone. The suddenness of the cancer has overwhelmed their economic capacity to sustain themselves during the next few months, so any support we can get will go towards helping him fight this cancer!

For those of you who aren’t familiar, my dad has 6 children, 18 grandchildren and has been married to my mom for 36 years. He has played such a huge role and influenced so many people in his life. He has pushed many people to go after their dreams and passions and he truly has a listening ear for anyone in need. Dads heart is so big and his mind is amazing.

Dear friends of my dad, Dennis and his wife Mary, wanted to help out somehow even though they live in Arizona. They were able to help us by setting up this GoFundMe and sending me the information to run it! Dennis has spent the last year in Melbourne helping my dad develop an off-grid haven, along with other family members and that has been a growing passion of my dads. He had been working full time up until this diagnosis and that came to a complete halt due to the progression of this.
