First Mission trip to Haiti!!

Hi everyone, I have the opportunity to be one of 12 from Harvest Fields Community Church in the Bronx, NY to go on a week long Mission trip to Cap-Haitien, Haiti in July of this year! As many of you know, there are areas still in shambles as a result of the devastating earthquake in 2010. By partnering with a local church and Adventures in Missions, we plan to take them a message of love and hope. We hope to try to restore a local community by providing food, clothing, shoes, medical supplies, educational workshops, perform minor renovations and even provide some pampering while we minister to them with compassion.
This will be my first trip traveling to another country to be of service to others. I might have an idea of what to expect but won't really know until I'm there. Nonetheless, I am stepping out in faith to help where there is a need! I'm honored to be a part of this team that wants to make a difference for this Haitian community.
As a social worker, I'm already in the helping field and really truly enjoy the work that I do. However, I usually wonder how else can I be of assistance. For some time, mission work was placed in my heart but it never seemed to be the "right" time or I doubted if could really make a difference. That changed In October of 2013 when I went on vacation to the Dominican Republic. Although the trip was for rest and relaxation, I chose an excursion to visit an elementary school. Taking school supplies was suggested but not required. I ended up with two shopping bags full of folders, pencils, crayons and with about as much as I could fit into my luggage without going over the weight limit. I will tell you that visiting the children was impactful and the smiles on their faces I will never forget. It was a humbling experience.
I now have a chance to make a week long difference and I'm requesting your help! Any amount you can give no matter how small will be greatly appreciated.
