Puerto Rico Relief Mission

This is Elena's house. Elena is a widow in Puerto Rico who's house was destroyed by Maria.  Her roof was 95% ripped off her house and everything inside was destroyed.  I met Elena on a trip to Puerto Rico December 28th 2017.  To date, FEMA has done nothing for her except put a blue tarp where her roof was. She is the sister of a friend of mine and I would like to go back at the end of February with a group of voluteers to put a new roof on her house.  I decided to create my own mission trip to help those that really are in need. Like Elena I have 2 other people that need nelp. One is an elderly woman who's roof was also damaged by the storm and a diabetic amputee who has had to pay neighbors to remove debris from his home. He doesn't have the money to pay and still needs a few large trees to me removed.  They are all family of people I personally know.

This is just the beginning of what I feel is a calling to help others. As a veteran I served this great country and now I feel it is time to give back.  The island of Puerto Rico when I visited in December has roughly 60% of areas without power by my estimates. People are getting by with generators. But the poor and elderly that need the help the most are not getting it.  They are a resilient people and are doing their best but I am sure that by helping one family at a time we are going to do great work and help those who can't help themselves.

As you can see, we can only rely on the federal government for big projects like clearing the streets and highways but the small jobs and people are being ignored.  Please help me extend a hand to these people that have been ignored. If you would like to help with the rebuilding, please contact me and I will give you exact dates of the trips as we get them.  The bible tells us to help widows and orphans especially. In various places as in the book of James below

 James 1:27 (NIV) Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

I am appealing to your sense of generosity and love of your fellow man so that we can help these and many more people. Thank you in advance for any help that you can give.  I will create a facebook page for this even with more photos of the work to be done.

God Bless;
Amado
