Uniting for Gleb's Fight Against Cancer

Donation protected
August 17, 2013 will be a day I never forget.  It was the day I learned that my best friend Gleb Zakarov had been diagnosed with Small Cell Lung Cancer.  This form of Cancer is very aggressive and is rare for someone who is 27. We always hear about how horrible Cancer is, but now I realize the magnitude of the disease.

Gleb Zakarov and I have been best friends for over a decade. If you know Gleb, you know that he has an extremely strong outgoing personality. As kid's we gave him the name "Ukraine Train," because everything he did from conversations to sports was full steam. His approach to everything was always over the top. For those who do not know Gleb, a typcal day with him would be filled with excitement and laughter (there is nothing dull or boring about the guy).

Another side to Gleb is that he is very selfless. He was always one to buy a bunch of food for everyone, without ever asking or expecting anything back. I'm sure everyone he knew or encountered can agree that he was always willing to help when asked. . He went above and beyond for others without any complaints.

Although some of you may not know who my friend Gleb is, I am sure you have a friend that is just as close to you, as he is to me. Gleb"˜s mother Lana is a single parent; she is going through lengths to do everything for her only son. She has been taking on all the medical bills on her own. Today I am taking a page out of Gleb's book and creating this Fundraiser to help pay for his medical expenses.

Cancer has no specific targets; it strikes randomly and comes in various forms. I don't know where it comes from or why it's here. What I do know is what I tell Gleb, "He has to fight!" So I ask you to join us in this fight whether you know Gleb or are reading this story. Please help in raising money to contribute to a target goal of $4,000. I believe Cancer will not beat us, instead it will unlock the strengths within us we never knew existed. If you are not in a position to financially contribute, I ask that you please share this story with someone to bring awareness.
Thank You!
