Thank you for visiting our site! We truly appreciate all the love and support we have already received. Here is the quick update for those who may not know. My mom started losing fine motor skills in her right hand about a month ago. After being admitted to the hospital for a potential stoke, an MRI revealed a mass in her brain. The neurosurgeon who was called in wanted to biopsy it the very next day! After speaking with trusted friends, the decision was made to get a second opinion at the University of Utah Huntsman Cancer Institute. Last week we traveled to Salt Lake City to meet with Dr. Randy Jensen and his staff at Huntsman. Impressed is putting it lightly! Our family knew immediately we were in the right place! Our matriarch and best friend had hit the jackpot! Insurance however, has disagreed with our assessment and has denied her claim. We know in our hearts that this is the team we trust . Therefore, despite the challenges, we are moving forward with what we believe is the best option for her. That’s where all of you come in. My hope is that you can help reduce some of the financial stress facing my parents. Funds raised through this platform will go towards travel expenses, pre-operative testing including a state of the art (but pricey) FMRI which will be used to map her brain, as well as the craniotomy itself, scheduled for Friday, June 30th. We don’t know the true extent of her expenses because we are at the very beginning of this journey. Thank you for your support and prayers. I will keep you updated as the week progresses.
