Love & Guts for WerdAndrew D’Aloisio is suffering a Crohn’s Disease flare up and multiple abdominal abscesses, he needs our help to see him through medical bills, co-pays & expenses as well as to supplement his family’s support while he is out of work.The 20 year old father from Valparaiso Indiana was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in early 2018 and is currently suffering from a damaged intestine inside causing multiple large abscesses in his abdomen outside . The infection is wreaking havoc on his organs and is compromised his liver & causing massive weight loss and malnutrition. He is currently treated by specialists at Indiana University Health University Hospital in Indianapolis, after his hometown hospital decided he needed more advanced care than they could offer.The current plan (though they seem to change daily) is to treat the abscess with a drain and antibiotics, buying him time, recovery, and relief until he’s well enough for a Ileocaecal resection in one surgery. If he doesn’t respond medically, and his abscesses don’t heal-this will be in two steps, with a colostomy bag and TPN (central line nutrition) in the interim.Andrew is a good kid who has fallen to an ugly disease. He is a hardworking father to a two year old ball of energy. He was attending classes at Second City in Chicago and working full time at Yats in Valpo when he was diagnosed during a comparatively small flare in December of 2017. He had to move home with his son and baby’s mom in early 2018, and tried to manage his disease which eventually took him from a slender 130lbs to 101 lbs when he was transferred to IU Health Hospital in Indianapolis.His mother Mary (me, hi!) has been at his bedside advocating for him and trying to make him comfortable. His son, baby’s mother, sister , father, grandparents and friends have been rallying trying to raise spirits and take care of business.Andrew will not be able to go back to his job of nearly 3 years when he gets back, and this has caused significant hardship for his family. This effort will be coupled with a raffle and fundraiser at his parent’s business Umbrella Ink Tattoo.
