Hello my name is Ryan. I am Matthew's brother. On Saturday October 7th Matthew passed away. This has all happened very quickly and has felt like a tornado hit our family. Matthew was the strongest, most loving, optimistic person on the planet. He was a medical miracle from the day he was born. And all he ever wanted was to feel normal.

Unfortunately, Matthew's kidneys began to give out on him around 2015 starting the decline of his kidneys. Dialysis came around 2019. While the treatments had been off and on over the last few years, he decided this last run of dialysis that he was "medically exhausted" and it was time for nature to take it's course. He was on hospice for two days and passed comfortably at home with our mother, Mandy. I was there to support my mother during his final moments and our other two siblings and father came to see him shortly after.

My sister, Elizabeth and I are doing everything we can to get our parents through the pain of losing their first child - trying to take as much off their plates as possible. We went with them to the funeral home this afternoon, where we find out that it will be just under $3,000 for the cremation. We have roughly about 3 weeks to come up with as much as we can. Anything that is left over, will go to support our mother and anything that she needs to transition comfortably.
