Rebuilding Coco's Barn
Donation protected
On the night of Thursday, February 13, 2014 my dear friend Coco and her family's goat barn collapsed under the weight of an unprecedented amount of snow. Inside the barn were their three Llamas Ricky, Rosa and Cassie, four goats Bob, Cookie, Jelly and Willow, Cookie's twin week old bucklings Cracker Jack and Tagalong, and, born that same night among the rubble of the barn were Jelly's twin doelings Donut Phoenix and Roberta Cassiopea, along with their flocks of free-range chickens and ducks. Willow is also pregnant.
Thanks to quick acting neighbors and the excellent Volunteer Firefighters at the Towmamencin Fire Department, almost everyone was saved. Lost was their dear Cassie, a beatuful creature full of grace and dignity. They also lost Cracker Jack, one of the week-old twin bucklings less than 24 hours later as he had sustained traumatic brain injury and a broken neck. He passed curled up in Coco's lap, being snuggled lovingly. The family is heartbroken.
We are raising funds to help them rebuild their barn. They are renters and the landlord, a hardworking farmer himself, did not have comprehensive insurance on the barn. Any additional funds raised will go to help with livestock costs. Please help them rebuild from this tragedy and give shelter to their growing animal family.
