Baby Emery

Donation protected
On December 14, 3 week old Emery Phillips went into septic shock due to a then undiscovered heart arrhythmia. Children’s Hospital attempted to shock his heart in to rhythm with a small electric impulse, which caused Emery’s heart to stop beating on its own all-together. They did chest compressions for 50 minutes and managed to get him on an ECMO machine. This machine does the work of his heart and lungs for him. Emery is now stable but still on the ECMO machine to allow his heart to rest while they get his medicines just right. They are monitoring his brain closely due to the cardiac arrest, hoping that he took no permanent brain damage. Emery is sedated but responding to touch and sound. He is still very sick, and the doctors are doing all they can to get him regulated to where he can do things on his own again. Emery is showing very positive signs but still needs time so they can pinpoint exactly what’s causing his issue so they can fix them. Nobody knows how long anything will take but he is in good hands and resting. Every little donation will help pay his hospital bills, and the bills that keeps the roof over his families head while we are staying by his side and taking leaves from work. Thank you everyone in advanced. We hope to take our baby home soon.
