Dear wonderful family, friends and community ^_^,
My name is Tijana and humbly, I would like to ask for your support. I have been selected to take part at Kanthari Fellowship. My close family is not in the position to help me finacially and due to the lack of employment opportunities, I am unemployed; so I would really need all your help.
Kanthari aim is to hone those "kantharis" through innovative curriculum who have gained strength from their adversities and are intrinsically driven to create ethical social change.
The kanthari curriculum, is a journey in five acts:
- Act I starts in a virtual world, which resembles a developing country similar to those of most participant's origins, and the participants will have the chance to test-run the start of their social initiatives
- Act II focuses on a guided step into the real world by providing an interactive experience with Kerala based marginalized groups (it is divided into two parts: Dare to Dream and Solid waste management: Developing Environmental Sensitivity)
- Act III will provide us with practical experience in the form of an Internship
- Act IV is "Back to spice gardens" and Graduation
- Act V is "Spice up the world"; Participants who have shown overall excellence, who have a convincing vision, reasonable budgets and clear action plans will have a chance to apply for start-up funding from kanthari International.
This experience will help me in pursuing my passion for social change and it will give me strength and confidence to follow my dreams.
I grew up in Serbia, conflict-affected country. I grew up under the sanctions' regime and the dictatorial regime of the Socialist Party governed by Slobodan Milošević. The state we had known collapsed during the Yugoslav Wars and horrific atrocities and ethnic cleansing in the 1990s. In addition, 1999 saw the NATO bombing of Serbia due to the ethnic cleansing of Kosovars in the province of Kosovo and Metohia.
Now, Serbia is in the process of rehabilitation, reconstruction and development towards peace, democracy and prosperous future. However, there are many challenges facing young people in Serbia. Young people are more and more faced with the lack of economic opportunities and lack of education that would prepare them for critical thinking/ leadership/entrepreneurship/innovation sphere which is crucial for the post-conflict rehabilitation and building of the society.
Kanthari Fellowship will give me skills, experience and knowledge necessary to fulfill my dream of making Serbia and the world a better, more peaceful place. Through my website TijanasBeautifulBites you will be able to be part of my journey/adventure in India and development of the project in my home country-Serbia.
3,000 dollars will be spend on my airplane ticket, health insurance, visa and medical costs, and deposit money. If I do not collect enough money, I will not be able to take part at Kanthari.

P.S. Fun fact about Serbia:
White Angel is a detail of one of the most well-known frescoes in Serbian culture, in the Mileševa monastery. A picture of the White Angel of Mileševa was sent as a message in the first satellite broadcast signal from Europe to America after the Cuban Missile Crisis, as a symbol of peace and civilization. Later, the same signal, containing the White Angel, was transmitted to space in an attempt to communicate with extraterrestrial life forms. ^_^
