WHAT IS THIS?

The Hook Program: a direct action to enhance the quality of life for First Responders, Veterans, and at Risk Youth through Fitness and Community Oriented Events.

Who We Are:

We are a team of former Law Enforcement Officers, Church Leaders,  Veterans, Coaches, Business Proffesionals and  passionate Community Members who are looking to continue the vision of serving those who serve/served us and the opportunity to help at risk youth across Mid Michigan. The founder is a former Police Officer who has a passion to continue to serve with a solution to help those he served for and beside.

WHY DO WE NEED HELP?

We believe this is a opportunity for not only the founders, but the community to believe, give back, and assist in a program to help First Responders, Veterans, and at Risk Youth, three demographs of people who are crucial to the wellbeing of our society.
What better way to repay those serving us, along with our communities future, than being part of a program that the direct action is to take care of our Heroes and our future youth!

WHAT ARE THE FUNDS FOR?

We are raising funds to kick start "The Hook" in our current location ( factory in Eaton Rapids 402 E Haven St) to a new potential location in Lansing. While in the process of obtaining our 501c3 status, we are continuing this program as an outreach ministry of City Harvest Church.

We are looking to create a training hub and well being center exlusivly for First Responders, Vetereans, and at risk youth.

The following is to get the program officially started:

- Equipment to facilitate the program
- Space lease and building upgrades / Paint, Carpet etc.
- Refurbishing of Three rooms
- The cost to cover the training programs for participants involved
- Funds for operating costs.

1. A report writing/ debrief room that local agencies can use to step off of the road and have meetings, write reports, or just get out of the elements.
2. A mentorship room for small group meetings, afterschool tutor programs.
3. "Victory Room" a area for everyone to safely hang out after meetings, workouts etc. An area where participants can continue to build relationships in a low stress enviroment.

Our Goals:

-To create a safe physical fitness training environment for first responders at no cost to them.  Helping with stress relief along with building a healthier foundation to enhance their daily service and mental well being needs.

-Helping at risk  youth (utilizing fitness) to encourage goal setting, build relationships, and mentorship for a healthy transition into adulthood.

- To offer team training exercises which help strengthen community and re-build a sense of camaraderie among First Responders, Veterans, at risk youth and their families.

-To use fitness at different levels to CHALLENGE each other to reach beyond what we think we are capable of achieving which in turn helps daily life .

- To EDUCATE veterans, at risk youth, and first responders in proper nutrition for a well-balanced life.

- To make available an onsite Mental Health Specialist for resources that may be needed

-To offer “Warrior Yoga” to aid in meditation and wellness techniques.

-To partner with other like-minded programs and community members to betterunderstand and serve those in need.

CORE VALUES:

-Strength- Spiritual, Mental, and Physical

-Honor- Respect towards your peers and the organization

-Integrity- Holding truth to a higher standard than self

-Loyalty- Commitment to others more than Self.

-Discipline- Self Control

-Service- Catering to others needs before self.

Our Purpose:

-Statistically, those with in high stress environments who participate in physical activity experience fewer symptoms of depresion, anxiety, and anger. They are less likely to feel isolated.

- Camaraderie enhances a sense of purpose, which many at risk youth, are missing. Veterans lose this after service, and first responders can benefit through
community engagement.

-Reduce gang involvement giving at risk youth a new “team” to function with.

-Establishing healthy patterns for eating and lifestyle which enhance the wellbeing
of the individual participating, along with those around them.

-Due to self medication, isolation, and other stressors, veterans tend to become
complacent and gain excess body weight.

-Statistically 22 veterans a day commit suicide ( recorded in 8 states and not on (Va Property) * This does not include at risk youth and first responders**
our goal is to create a new mission and purpose for those that may feel “lost.”

-We believe both at risk youth and those serving/served who are engaged with  a community are less likely to face depression , suicide , criminal activity, and
relationship problems .
