¡Hola!
I have recently been given an amazing opportunity to spend a month of my clinical time for my masters in occupational therapy with the NAPA-OT Field School in Guatemala. I hope you will take a minute to read about my participation in the program and consider helping me financially on this journey.
Twelve students from across the country, primarily occupational therapy and anthropology majors have been selected for three small group projects within the NAPA-OT Field School. The group I have been placed in is geared towards NGO networks for health, focusing on the lack of primary care services compared to emergency and tertiary care. My role is to investigate this gap by interviewing NGO healthcare coordinators and recipients, and observing NGO programs to identify areas for strategic development in the delivery of primary care services. These research findings will be shared with participating parties, and will be applied to a published report in hopes of promoting social justice and essential health care services.
During the program I will live with a local family and participate in intensive Spanish lessons for 3-4 hours per day. I look forward to the opportunity to expand on my travel experiences as I now can begin integrate my profession and increase my proficiency in a new language.
In addition UNH tuition I am responsible for many other expenses including NAPA tuition, airfare, homestay, language school, and other living expenses, which is where I am asking for your help. If you are able to fund me in any way, small or large, I would truly appreciate it. I look forward to sharing my experiences with you!
