Mason’s Journey to Open Heart
Mason, 10 will have open heart surgery in the
upcoming weeks (he has been monitored since 4) He has an aortic valve stenosis, along with a bicuspid. We went through this scare last year, but the doctors were hopeful to prolong the
procedure into puberty if possible to avoid
two surgeries, but that isn’t the case. His
valves in the last 6 months have went from
mild, to moderate, and if the surgery is
“pushed back” any longer, his valves could be
permanently damaged. This is fixable! He will spend approximately 3 weeks at INOVA.
Mason’s case will be presented before the board at INOVA which will provide more details,
and a date for the surgery to take place.
Recently we found out the the Ronald
McDonald House is closed due to
renovations. We will need to cover lodging,
gas, maintaining our home, and any
other potential worries that could arise
during this fragile time. We live about 1.5
hours from the facility.
Mason is the highlight of so many lives, and
loves his 19 month old brother, Jack to pieces.
Mason is a straight A student who loves trains,
gadgets, tanks, Star Wars, and exploring.
He is my son, my life.
