As many of you know, our family friend Cora Showers received the shocking news of her recent cancer diagnosis- a rare form of leukemia called Acute Promyelocytic Leukaemia ( APML ).   Cora is a 22 year old smart, beautiful young woman inside and out, no matter the situation she always has a smile on her face. She recently graduated from UMASS Dartmouth, and was eager to start her life in this world as a college graduate, with her new career. On the morning of July 3rd, 2020- Cora woke up with intensifying bruises all over her body, and bleeding from her mouth- her mom, who is an RN at children’s hospital, took her to be evaluated at the ED- from that moment on things began to get serious, after drawing labs they rushed Cora to BID Boston- where she later received her cancer diagnosis.  Cora has a long road ahead of her, she will be in patient at Boston hospital for 5-6 weeks, and then she will be continuing out patient care for the next 4-6 months. If you would like to donate to help Cora through this medical rollercoaster it would be greatly appreciated- we also have an address where she can receive cards to hang on her hospital wall for the time being.
