Keegan's Krusade
Where
to begin...Keegan has been through more in his young life
than anyone should ever have to go through in a lifetime. He was born
with an extra chromosome 22, which lead to a diagnosis of Cat Eye
Syndrome. Keegan's road has been a bumpy one. He has a complex cardiac defect,
TAPVR which required 3 surgical interventions, chronic lung disease,
pulmonary artery hypertension and feeding intolerance. He uses oxygen
on a daily basis and is fed through a G-Tube. He has been in and out of
hospitals for almost 3 years now. Luckily....Keegan has been home
since April of 2013. He has progressed so much through therapy and just
being at HOME. Unfortunately they were recently thrown yet another
curveball....a mass was found near his liver and the biopsy showed Keegan now has Liver Cancer, we still don't
know yet what stage it is in. Liver cancer is rare in children and
teenagers. Hepatoblastoma is the name of his cancer which usually
does not spread outside the liver. This type usually affects children
younger than 3 years old. This past Monday Keegan started Chemotherapy with 3 doses.
We
all know someone in our lives that has battled or is battling cancer.
Many people are unaware of the financial burden cancer and other medical
issues can place on a person and/or family. Obviously raising Keegan has been a full-time job for
Krista and she feels blessed everyday that she can be by his side. She
has been his biggest advocate and always knows if something is "off" or
different with Keegan. Unfortunately for Darin, he only gets paid if he
works. So taking any time off is costly to the family.
Many
people are asking what they can do to help and assist them along this Krusade. First and foremost, prayers! In addition, fundraisers and/or
individual donations offer a great deal of assistance to help offset the
cost of medical bills and everything else involved.
All donations will be sent to their family as they seek to insure Keegan receives the best medical
attention, hospital treatment, and any alternative treatments that will
help his body to be restored back to health!
Any
leftover money that is not needed, they will donate to the Children's
Cancer Research Fund...in hopes of finding a cure for all children
battling Pediatric Cancers.
Please keep Keegan and his family in
your thoughts. They couldn't get through all this without their prayer
WARRIORS!!! God Bless you all and I will try my best to keep everyone
updated.
