Fighting Cancer One Step At A Time
Donation protected
This GoFundMe was created for a dear friend and coworker, Lena, and her husband, Beau. 2018 was one of their worst years. It began with a pregnancy that they thought would never happen that ended in a tragic miscarriage. They lost a close friend, dealt with personal struggles, and then, in November 2018, Beau was diagnosed with an ependymoma on his cervical spine (neck). December 13th, 2018, Beau underwent surgery to remove the tumor. The doctors think it was surgically curable, so right now he's cancer free, assuming there were no pieces of the tumor left behind. The surgery cut the sensory and motor pathways of Beau's nervous system, so although he's potentially cancer free, he lost function and sensation of his hands and the left leg/foot, and minimal sensation below the waist. Impairments require him to need heavy assistance to do every day tasks such as turning in bed, going the bathroom, or even working a cell phone. Beau works in IT at a DFW hospital and Lena is a unit secretary at Methodist Mansfield. He does not have short term disability and Lena has taken FMLA to assist him with his recovery and care. Unfortunately, they have run out of PTO or other sources of income and still have bills to pay. They do not want to ask for help. I requested to make this GoFundMe at their reluctance but they need the financial assistance to help stay afloat. Any help would be appreciated, if that is $5 or just sharing the link for others to give. Thank you for helping our friends.
