please lift jim's burden

jim survived the war during his 17 year military career only to be struck down by an 18 wheeler, while driving his motorcycle to work. jim was revived 5 times that awful day, but he survived. he remained on life support for 32 days, surprising everyone who didn't expect him to wake up for at least 4-5 months. jim has fought everyday to stay alive and thrive. his journey is long and painful, he never complains. his wish is to get back to work. he feels responsible for our lack of money. short term disability pays him 1/3 of his regular pay. most of this money goes to prescriptions, copays and other medical equipment. we had just moved into this tiny townhouse before the accident. there is no bedroom or shower downstairs, i give him his bath on the only bed that would fit in our dining room. i would give my leg to get him into a one story house or a house with a downstairs master bedroom and bath. which brings me to my begging. never asked anyone for anything, but for my husband of 27 years, i'll ask. jim will be having his leg amputated soon. while this scares him, he has high hopes for a good prosthesis. he wants to run, scuba dive, but mostly go back to work. he is an aircraft mechanic and goes on test flights. he needs a leg that will allow him to move around the plane. those legs are expensive. i'm humbly asking for your help for the man i've loved since i was a kid. although we have it tough, others have it tougher, i'm just asking if you could maybe skip your coffee for a week, for a man who fought for your freedom, raised 4 kids, coached sports with 2 hrs sleep and shouldn't still be here, but is. thanking you in advance. normally, i would be embarrassed to ask for anything, but for a man who puts everyone else first, i would stand on a street corner and beg!! lets get him a cool leg!!
