UPDATE: Vivian Faith Starnes was born on Wednesday, April 24th, 2014 at 8:23 pm weighing 5 lbs. 15 oz! At the time of this update, she is 22 hours old and holding her own. She is a fighter! Please continue to pray for her and the family as they continue on this journey.
At 12 weeks gestation, baby Vivian, who is due in April, was diagnosed with anencephaly.
Anencephaly is a rare condition in which babies develop with a brain stem but only part or none of their brain. They grow, breath, and have a heartbeat. Those that are live-born cannot hear, see, feel, taste, smell or even cry. They have no voluntary movements. Anencephaly is a fatal condition- of those that are live-born, most pass away within minutes or hours of being born, with few living several months. A small hand full of these special children have lived a year or so, with the longest living only three years. At a time when most parents-to-be are celebrating and anxiously preparing to welcome their little one to the world, James and Lindsey are preparing for the most heartbreaking and trying thing any parent must do- say goodbye. Adding to their stress and heartbreak is the financial burden they now face.
Because life insurance is not an option in paying for Vivian's final expenses, and with her parents both expecting to lose a considerable amount of time from work, friends and family are reaching out to your kind hearts to help with the financial burdens to come.
We understand that everyone's budget is tight, and many of you may not know this family. All we ask is that you pray about it and let the Lord lead you in giving to this family to help cover the cost of Vivian's final expenses as well as other needs that may arise.
