Hello!
My name is Mariana and I have recently joined Bagos d'Ouro as Fund Raising Manager (what a great timing!! ;)).
What's our charity organization about?
Bagos d'Ouro's mission is to support the development, through education, of children in the Douro valley region. A region that, in spite of the glamour associated to the wine, is one of the poorest in Europe. There are many serious economic and social issues that limit the future potential of children.
We aim that our "Baguitos" (that are now about 150) become true assets to the region, adding much needed value.
Why am I starting this fundraising now?
Because this week we were going to launch one of our major fund raising campaigns of the year: we had partnered with hotels/guesthouses from Douro to raise money from guests' donations. Well...that's not happening...
Plus, the other big campaign we have is only for Portuguese tax payers, which excludes many potential donations. And that is a shame!
Why do we need the funds?
STAGE 1 – DIGITAL NEEDS – CHECK!
Two weeks ago we started this campaign focused on digitalization needs. However, thanks to all the generous donations, our children’s major needs have been met faster than expected. We are very grateful to all! Thank you!
STAGE 2 – STUDY NEEDS – OPEN NOW! :)
Online classes are on the way and we would like to guarantee that our finalists (forms 11 and 12) are really well prepared for future national exams. Not having the support from parents, that normally have a lower level of education, we are hiring teachers/tutors (mathematics, science, history, Portuguese and English) to reinforce the learning process.
If you would like to contribute to help cover part of these costs, again, we would be truly grateful!
