HELP BRING HENRY HOME!!!

During the pandemic animal crisis, rescues and shelters have been slammed with owners giving up on their covid dogs avoiding any commitment or responsibility. This is the highest number of animals dumped in history.

Henrys family was not one of these people. Henry had to have an emergency surgery for a intestinal blockage, and his family rushed him to hospital to have the surgery done. They took out a loan and put them self into financial debt trying to save their dog because he is family. His surgery went well as he had 8 inches of intestine removed, and then he got released back to them. Within a day he started getting sick again and become lethargic, and they didn’t know why. The family spent over $10,000 and was tapped out on funds and felt stuck as they didn’t know how to help him.

They contacted Fur Warriors, a registered charity rescue for help, and was devastated that they had to surrender him to get help because they didn’t want him to die, but couldn’t afford any more. The rescue took him in thinking maybe he needed some fluids and more antibiotic medication to help him heal. Through diagnostics and testing, it was shown his intestines were not closed properly in the original first surgery,(which was done at a different hospital) and Henry had a huge infection that was going to turn him septic if he wasn’t rushed back into surgery to save his life. The rescue wasn’t expecting the big financial cost but didn’t hesitate to give Henry the surgery he needed as his life mattered.

Henry was rushed back into surgery having another 5 inches of intestine removed, as well as a 10 inch ball of puss removed, and an abscess removed that was attached to his liver. He also had aspirated phenomena which is common after surgery, and he was treated to help that as well.

He stayed in hospital for almost a week after surgery to make sure his recovery was successful.

Originally when the family surrendered Henry it was to selfishly save his life even though they didn’t want to give up their pet. They tried really hard to save him and put them self into debt doing it. If the first surgery was done right they wouldn’t of need a second one, or had to make the heart breaking choice to give up the dog they called family. They just couldn’t bare their dog dying because they ran out of money. They really tried and they deserve the credit for doing so.

Henry has made a full recovery and deserves to be with the family he loves. We usually don’t do these type of cases, but seeing how much owners have been dumping animals without worry… we wanted to fight for the family who is actually trying to put their animal first before them-self.

Our rescue is a charity that solely runs off of donations, and took a big financial hit taking Henry in. We are asking for help to recover these costs as we want to bring Henry home back to his family where he is truly loved. Putting these funds back into the charity account will help the rescue to be able to help more animals in need.

Help us bring Henry back home!!! Our plan is to return Henry back home to his family once his 3 week post op appointment is cleared as we will do follow up ultrasounds and testing to make sure he is fully recovered. We want to set a Henry up for success!
