Help Our Hero - Bryony Morgan Appeal

Donation protected

Our hero sadly passed on 6th March 2014. As she never had a chance to benefit from these funds, it has been decided that we will continue to fundraise in memory of her. All funds will be used to help other children and families in a similar position.

Thank you so much for your continued support. Bryony's story can still be read below.

This fund is to support Bryony and her family with travel and living costs whilst Bryony participates in a clinical trial that may be available to her in the next few weeks. The clinical trial will take place in London and although the details are still vague, one thing for certain is that Bryony is willing to undergo any chance of treatment and her family will need to be with her all the way.

Please read below for full details of Bryony's journey so far:

This amazing girl was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer known as Proximal Epithelioid Sarcoma in March 2012 at 9 years old after experiencing pins and needles and weakness in her left hand when writing at school.

After undergoing months of intense chemotherapy, she had to undergo a radical surgical procedure (forequarter amputation) on 23rd August 2012 to remove her entire left arm in order to remove the tumour that was almost unresponsive to the chemotherapy.

Where this procedure would devastate the best of us, Bryony remained positive and cheerful as she knew that it was her chance of survival. Following surgery, Bryony had to have 10 weeks of radiotherapy before she was classed as cancer free.

Since then, Bryony has had several setbacks including a further surgical procedure to remove another bone from her shoulder and several hospital admissions for antibiotics etc... due to a weakened immune system.

Just as Bryony's life was adapting and she was settled back into school and her hair was growing back etc.., we were delivered devastating news. After 11 months of being cancer free, in October 2013, we were told the disease had returned. Bryony was given treatment in the form of oral chemotherapy from home. Sadly, the oral chemotherapy did not stop disease progression and it has now spread to multiple sites of her body. In a desperate plight to find treatment, we have been advised of a clinical trial that may be suitable in London that may improve Bryony's condition. Details are still limited but in order to participate in the trial, she will have to travel to London every week and may have to stay in London for extended periods. In order to do this, Bryony will need her family around her to help keep her spirits up as treatment is delivered and the family want to be with Bryony as much as they can through this journey. The only way that this can be possible is if anyone is kind enough to donate to this cause.

Any money raised that is left over will be donated to childhood sarcoma research.

Many thanks in advance for your continued support

Love

Bryony and her family
