On December 27th, 2013, together we walked into the doctors office for the results. For days leading up to this moment she said she'd already known, she just knew. Shortly after the door opened we sat quietly as he took a seat in front of her, and with no delay, confirmed her certainty..."You have breast cancer."
This is the story of Jennifer Peterson (age 36)...
For those of you who are fortunate enough to never have to hear those words spoken, may God bless you. For a long time we all had the crazy stories of growing old together and where we will be in 5, 10, 20 years from now, almost like when we were kids, we were so innocent and blind to certain realities. Now we hear these words spoken a little too often, a little too close to home.
Emotionally and mentally Jen most definitely has the "fighting spirit." I think everyone would agree when I say she is a strong force and would never back down when she puts her mind to anything. Never allowing a negative impact to dictate which path she takes. She has always been the person who creates the paths for others to follow. She is a leader, but will walk behind you so you won't fall. She is a fighter, but will always be in your corner. She is a friend to many, a wife to one, a sister, a daughter, and a wonderful mother. Now we will support her, walk behind her, and be in her corner till she wins this fight.
On Friday January 24th, 2014 she battled her way through her mastectomy surgery and is now preparing for her chemotherapy to begin on February 17th, with possible radiation therapy to follow. She will undergo a total of 5 months of chemotherapy. This we know will be a challenge and hope that we can take away any financial burden this will create for her husband, Ralph, and 2 beautiful children Tai (age 8) and Cali (age 6). At this time we are asking any of you to offer your hand with support from friends and family who want to help and assist her through this fight...together we will all walk behind you Jennifer...forever in your corner.
