Dear Friends & Family,
I want to share with you something exciting that is happening in my life. I have joined The COVE Medical team on a mission to Honduras on April 26th thru May 3rd.
Our church, The COVE (Mooresville, NC) responded to a call for help after Hurricane MITCH wrought significant damage to Honduras in 1998, affecting nearly the entire population. Our area mission teams have continued to support the local Honduras ministry to rebuild homes and communities. Most recently, we have been asked to send a medical team and I will be going on that Team's trip next month.
The purpose of our trip is to share the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ, through construction of a local and accessible medical/dental clinic, conduct women's and children's ministries, and hold "backyard Bible studies." Our goal is not just to provide curative treatment, but to help restore relationships with God, community, self and creation. We will be staying in Siguatepeque, Honduras to support Pastor Israel Gonzalez, as we set up medical clinics in several remote villages in the mountains around Lake Yajoa.
First and most important, I need your prayers. Please pray for me and the entire Honduras team. Pray for our safe travel, our health, and our strength to endure any challenges we may face...and I'm good with you doing just that...
. ...however, I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider providing financial support for the trip. I have covered my costs, (airfare, hotel, food, and transportation). The mission costs include all medicine, medical supplies and in-country support for translation, transportation, etc. Your donation will go to:
o Curative treatment for over 500 people (100 per village) mostly children. We hope to visit 5 villages (one each day). Our cost averages out to $45 per patient.
o Completion of the Medical/Dental clinic in Siguatepeque to bring quality healthcare and spiritual direction to 58 communities in a 50 mile radius. This spacious 10,000 square foot medical facility will eventually house medical students, provide state-of-the art diagnostics, and competent medical treatment to the mountain villages of Central Honduras.
