Kylee's Prosthetic Journey

First and most importantly, Kylee has been discharged from Rainbow Children s Hospital. She left smiling, laughing and acting like the amazing Kylee that we all know.
"Things could have gone a lot worse. But things could have gone a lot better"- words from our Dad. This statement couldn't be more true.
Though Kylee escaped with no brain trauma the damage to her left eye was devastating. The surgeons were able to reconstruct the structural integrity of her face but were not able to save the left eye.
The silver lining to this injury is that the muscles involved with the left eye socket are fully functional. This means that Kylee can and will be fitted for a prosthetic eye that will move simultaneously with her right eye.
That being said, the journey to obtain the best prosthetic is a long and expensive road. The clinic that could provide the very best eye piece is located in California. (http://estheticeyes.com/ The pictures and videos provided by this clinic are just remarkable.)
The goal for Kylee is for her to travel with the family (Lisa, Greg and Clay) to California in two months time. While in California the family will need to stay in a hotel for about 7 days. During the 7 days, Kylee will be fitted for an eye piece that will be a digital replica of her right eye.
At 13 years-old Kylee has gone through more emotional and physical trauma than most. And get this, she was smiling while still intubated!
Kylee deserves the best because she ALWAYS gives her best.
