Hi, my name is Therese. I am 50 years young and finally know what I want to do when I grow up!
I will be attending massage therapy school starting in August 2022. Throughout my life, I have studied all sorts of topics around the field of massage therapy, such as aromatherapy, energy healing, meditation and yoga. In 2018 I started farming and am currently self-employed. After several years, I am finding that I can't make a living on farming alone. So, I would like to add massage to the menu of high-quality, health-minded services I provide to my community. I finally feel ready to accept the challenge of guiding others to more significant health outcomes.
I have chosen to attend the BodyMechanics School of Myotherapy and Massage in Vancouver, Washington. It is a 700-hour program endorsed by the Washington state department of health. At the end of the program, I will take the national massage license exam and plan to practice in Washington and Oregon states.
I have chosen BodyMechanics because of their strong community partnerships and on-the-job mentoring programs, particularly related to medical massage in a hospital setting. I hope to strike a good balance between medical massage, spa massage and farming to create a more holistic approach to my career.
Unfortunately, this program does not meet federal financial aid funding requirements. So I am asking for your support. Tuition is just over $13,000, and books and supplies are another $1,500. I plan to work part-time while attending school four days a week and do have a small amount saved. Any assistance you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Please share this campaign and any leads for other scholarship funding.
Have a peaceful day!
