Help April Fight Cancer
Donation protected
This past January, April retired from a 13 year career at Target to take care of her terminally ill mother. Within one month of retirement, April was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic cancer.
April is a mother of five and a grandmother to two young boys, both under the age of four – but family to April means love, not just blood. April is a mother to everyone she meets. If someone is in need, April is always the first to offer a warm bed and a warmer hug, with an invitation to stay as long as they need – sometimes for weeks and sometimes for years. It is not uncommon for April to have multiple people living in her house until they get back on their feet. April is a suicide prevention activist and a passionate advocate for education. She is an active volunteer for Common Ground, a suicide prevention non-profit, and fundraises annually for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. She is the founder and creator of a home school community in South East MI, which has grown to over 500 members.
April has spent a lifetime helping others. Now she needs help. April faces six months of chemo therapy, and a liver-stent surgery to help lessen her jaundice. She needs help paying for chemo visits, surgery, clinical trials, and medicine to improve her quality of life. She will also need help taking care of household costs, such as groceries and bills, as the time she budgeted to spend with her mom comes to a close.
Our starting campaign goal is $15,000. This will be used to help pay home expenses and cover copays and medical bills so April can focus on healing and spending time with family.
We want to make the next few months of April's life as relaxing for her as possible. We appreciate any and all support and donations that you can offer.
