Laura's Cancer Story

We would like to share our sister Laura’s story.

Laura and her husband Stephen, after 14 years together, started their family this year when their beautiful twin girls were born in July. They bought a house, leased a family car and were ready for their new adventure as parents. 2 days after the birth, Laura noticed a lump on her side which was initially suspected to be a muscular tear, but it turned out to be a tumour in her liver.

When the girls were only 3 weeks old, Laura was diagnosed with cancer.

Laura has advanced metastatic bowel cancer. This means that the bowel cancer has spread to her liver. She is set to have 3 months of chemotherapy to reduce the tumours, followed by multiple operations to then try and remove them.

Throughout all of this, Laura has been an inspiration. She is unshakeably positive and motivated, constantly researching anything that has proven to help others through similar diagnoses, such as change in diets or alternative medicines.

But honestly, they need some help. Laura is already in so much pain from the tumours that most of the time she’s struggling to even hold the babies for long periods of time, Myself and her other sister jade just feel helpless. Unfortunately Stephen is not able to work now and is at home permanently to take care of the twins and Laura. He is self employed so unable to earn any money to pay for their mortgage, bills, food etc.

Laura has just started maternity leave but the pay is not covering their outgoings. They’re in a financial crisis, on top of everything else they’re facing day-to-day.

We have set a target of £15,000 which is hopefully enough to cover their outgoings for the next 6 months of this journey, plus pay toward much needed childcare/nanny help with the twins! If you can help at all, by donating or sharing Laura’s story far and wide, we would forever appreciate it.
