Peace & Justice in the West End

Hello! My name is Garrett Everett. I live in the West End neighbourhood of Winnipeg with my wife, Laura. I have lived here for over five years, and although the area is considered by many to be undesirable and even dangerous, I am happy to call it home.

I have the opportunity to be involved in a YWAM internship being hosted by my church, Little Flowers Community. The internship involves three months of intensive study and reflection on both local and global peace and justice issues, including volunteering at local non-profits, a research project, and discussions and lectures with local and international guest speakers. Throughout the internship I will receive training, teaching, mentorship and opportunities to explore different dynamics surrounding peace and justice, and I hope to assemble a more effective toolkit in dealing with these challenging issues on a day-to-day basis in our neighbourhood!

Taking this internship is a bit of a leap of faith for both myself and my wife, Laura, in an already busy time of our lives, but we feel that I am called to this experience, and we have the support of our friends and community. We can't do it without your help though!

I would like to raise $2000 to cover the cost of tuition and help with everyday living expenses throughout the course of the three-month program. All funds raised here go directly to YWAM to finance this.
