Cancer care for a beloved mom and wife.

Hey everyone, my name is Kristen Carr- some of you may know me as Space Invader in the cosplay and hobby costuming community.

Over the past 4 and a half years, my mother has been steadily battling Ovarian cancer. About 2 and a half years ago we found it had metastasized to her brain. She has frequently undergone chemotherapy and Gamma Knife radiation to treat her tumors. Unfortunately, like most cancers, the clock is ticking. While we try to remain hopeful, our options for treatment - and my mother's strength to endure - are running out.

Recently my mom has been hospitalized three times for various infections, the current being pneumonia. She is incredibly weak, and while her breathing rate is slowly improving, she has been in the hospital for over a week. Because of the amount of care she needs, my dad has not been able to work much. I currently am in Texas to help out and cannot work myself while I am here.

The hospital and treatment bills are piling up. Income is scarce. About the only thing saving my dad's skin right now is a little dab of social security and savings. I myself have no savings, and with not being able to work, there are some essential bills of mine that are also hanging in limbo.

With my parent's insurance, my dad will owe at least $10k out-of-pocket for my mother's hospital stays, treatment, and care. This is a very hard blow, especially considering he has not been able to work much.

My mother has been a pivotal influence in my life, and I love her very much. We both do. We want to make sure she is comfortable and well taken care of, but the bills are starting to be too much. The vast majority of anything I raise here will be going to my dad to help with the medical expenses. I hate seeing my parents struggle... this is the only way I can think of to help them out since I am not in a position to help with payments myself.
