Mom’s fight with gastric cancer began in November of 2015. A cancer diagnosis is never easy but being told you have an incurable cancer is devastating. Throughout this journey Mom has underwent several surgeries, too many procedures to count, and endured all the horrible side effects of chemotherapy. She has persevered and fought with every ounce of being she has and continues to do so. We have had so much love and support along the way that has lifted our spirits more than you will every know! THANK YOU! The next step in Mom’s journey involves another trip to Pittsburgh to undergo a very extensive surgery, on October 26th, that will take upwards of ten hours. The goal of this is to remove any visible cancer, take down scar tissue, remove any organ that may contain metastasis, remove more of her stomach and reconnect everything so that hopefully she will be able to eat again. Her abdomen will also be “washed” with heated chemo in hopes of killing microscopic cancer cells. She will spend a few nights in ICU and at least 2 weeks in the hospital. This procedure is risky and does carry a high complication rate. Mom and members of our family will be doing a great deal of traveling and spending an extended period of time in Pittsburgh. We all ask for your continued prayers for great surgical outcomes and God’s miraculous healing! Many of you have asked how you can help. At this point, Mom and Dad are doing okay day to day. With this trip, however, comes many, many expenses. Multiple flights, parking, food, hotel....the list goes on. So, I thought this may be a way for those of you wanting to help to help ease the financial burden for Mom and Dad. With so many things to worry about, I hope we can make money not one of them. Thank you all for all your support whether it’s been prayer, a phone call, a card, flowers, a visit, running errands, a meal, or financially! None go unappreciated! God Bless each one of you!
