SmartAID is working with local groups in Afghanistan who offer mental health support to vulnerable women.
The organisation does this by providing telecommunications access (cell phones/solar-powered battery packs/data packages) so that local mental health workers can continue supporting vulnerable women who are at high risk and need psychosocial support even with the current constraints.
Communication packages will be designed to be useful even in when there is no electricity, and staff and facilitators will receive routinely updated guidance on how to safely use these packages.
The assistance is all localised, where the mental health providers speak Dari and Pashto will continue to offer guidance and counsel to the women even if they are isolated in their homes.
