Support The Capaldo's As They Battle Cancer, Again

Donation protected
Nick Capaldo and his family have a fight ahead of them. Recently, Nick was diagnosed with kidney cancer and will have surgery next month. Financial support and gas gift cards would be a God send during this time of great uncertainty. Thank you in advance for your generous support.

Below is the post Nick shared when he announced his diagnosis.

***LONG POST WARNING***

July 12, 2020. A day that changed my life forever. I (Nick) Had been doing some outside work most of the day, like cleaning the pool, general yardwork, etc. Had to use the bathroom, and that's when it hit. Red in stool. Blood. TMI I know, but it's important to explain... I had never knowingly passed blood in my urine before. There was that time in elementary school when I got hit by two freshmen football players harder than I still to this day had ever been hit before, and apparently I passed some blood then too. But I digress...

Made an appointment with my primary care doctor for Monday afternoon. At this point I was NOT in any pain. We started treating for a UTI and I had instructions that if I couldn't go, I may have a clot and I should get to the ER. Four hours later thats where I found myself.

At the ER treatment plans changed from UTI to kidney stones, as I was in writhing pain by this time. Labs were taken, both blood and urine (although the urine could have passed for blood), and a abdominal CT scan. Doctor came back in, informed me I had no kidney stones either side! What a relief! The next thing he said however led me to beg for those stones... Despite how painful they could be...

"Your CT scan shows a mass on your left kidney about 7cm x 8cm x 9cm... Most likely renal cell carcinoma. We need to do a CT scan with contrast to be sure," was what the doctor informed me that night. Kidney cancer? I may have kidney cancer? Seriously? As if the threat of covid-19 isn't enough? Sure enough, the CT scan lit up the mass.

I. Have. Cancer.

Amazing how three words can say so much, yet so little at the same time. I have cancer. Kidney cancer. Am I scared? TERRIFIED. Do I show it? You tell me, I think I'm holding it together, but my wife and kids may say different. At times I'm great, other times I'm lost in thoughts of 'what if?' But I do have something in my heart that will be with me through anything that comes my way these next couple months...

I HAVE JESUS!

He's the great physician. He's already healed my daughter! I know what he can do, through the skilled hands of doctors and nurses, I have witnessed it! He is my comforter, my healer, my friend! Without him I am nothing!

So, to make this long story short, the plan is to have my kidney removed in about a month. Thanks be to God for giving me two! I will be down after that for about 4 weeks. Prayers are appreciated always, and folks, listen to your body... It will usually tell you when something isn't right, and get it checked out!
