Bring Yoeri Home

HE IS COMING HOME!

We have had SO many people across the country ask us about an amazon wish list or GoFundMe for Yoeri’s care. While it is not necessary, we are also so thankful for any donation. Because Forest Park took everything that belonged to Yoeri with them, we are purchasing everything from scratch. The outpouring of love during the last few months has been incredible and we can’t thank you enough for helping us bring Yoeri home.

If you would like to donate to a non-profit, there are the two we are working with :

This is (now) retired K9 Yoeri (City of Forest Park, GA) and his most recent handler, Officer Nathan Gray.

The vet recommended that K9 Yoeri be medically retired due to arthritis (which requires daily medication) and a hernia (which requires a special diet) and returned to his handler, Nathan, with whom he’s lived and served for the last six years.

Unfortunately for Yoerie, he’s now been taken from his handler and stuck in a pen for the last three weeks. The Chief of Police, Nathaniel Clark (404.366.4141) and the City Manager, Marc Cooper (404.366.1555) (Forest Park, GA) are flatly refusing to return him to the handler despite the veterinarian’s recommendation. Allegedly, they want another opinion. We don’t even know if he’s receiving the meds he needs to live without pain. Please call them and voice your concerns. This is despicable and cruel to the dog.

This dog deserves better than to go without the medication and diet he needs, languishing in a pen with virtually no human contact, and waiting for another vet to give a potentially different recommendation. Does the City of Forest Park, GA care so little about their K9 officers and the morale of the officers in their employ to basically commit this poor dog to a life of confinement after he’s served his community well? Who knows better how to manage this dog for the rest of his life than the handler who’s taken care of his every need for the last six years? Do they want to adopt him out (auction him off) to the highest bidder?

Please share. This dog needs to be out of solitary confinement and back in the care of his handler. Surely he deserves better.
