Medical Help... Again :-(

Hi, thank you for visiting my gofundme. I really appreciate you taking the time to allow me to update you on my health issues, mainly my battle with endometriosis and adenomyosis. Please consider giving anything you can, even $10/20 will help. Thank you so much. Love, Cori

Update: I had my first surgery for excision of endometriosis on March 7, 2018 (after moving from New Orleans to Denver). They found many endometrial cells where they shouldn’t be and most of my organs were woven together with spider-web-like adhesions. The thing about endometriosis is that it is a chronic condition. Meaning I have to battle with this debilitating disease and all that goes along with it for possibly the rest of my life. Like cancer, endometriosis it is an overgrowth and overproduction of cells and they travel to places that they shouldn’t be. Though not deadly, it is constantly draining the life from the individual slowly. Many cannot work, barely able to enjoy life and when we do for a day, we suffer for days after.

The surgery in March did help, but very little and debilitating pain has since returned. It confirmed what I have been suspecting for years, that I have endometriosis. But we have discovered that I also have Adenomyosis, which is the same cancer-like cells exist or grow into the walls of my uterus instead of just the areas in my abdominal cavity. I am again, possibly even worse than before, suffering. I am unable to work most days, I vomit constantly because of the pain, and I am frequently losing a disturbing amount of blood. I have tried various treatments to “manage" the symptoms with no success. I have visited the emergency room several times and finally my doctor felt I should undergo a second procedure to see what can be done about the deep-infiltrating cells.

This Tuesday, September 24, I am undergoing a second, more extensive surgery for endometriosis and adenomyosis. Although try to remain hopeful, I am terrified. A lot of you know I HATE asking for help and I would never ask unless I absolutely needed it. My insurance will cover some of the cost, but I'm in need of some help with living costs during my recovery. Please consider giving anything you can, even $20 will help. Thank you so much. Love, Cori

About Endometriosis and Adenomyosis: Endometriosis is a disease that affects one of the most unrecognized parts of a woman’s life, her period. It is a very personal and intimate aspect of women’s health and can be thought of as a disease of menstruation. Endometriosis occurs when the tissue that lines the uterus (endometrium), is found in regions outside of the uterus, in other words, where the tissue should not be. It affects around one in every ten women and is mostly unrecognizable, misdiagnosed, and mistreated. Currently, there is no cause of endometriosis is not known. (More: https://www.endofound.org/endometriosis ). Although they can occur together, endometriosis is when endometrial cells (the lining of the uterus) are in a location outside of the uterus. Adenomyosis is when these cells exist or grow into the uterine wall.
